A variety of investment tools are available to help regions pro- mote small businesses, entrepreneurship, and community re- investment. A community development financial institution (CDFI) provides credit and financial services to underserved markets and populations. The U.S. Treasury Department has certified 10 CDFIs in Southeast Florida out of approximately 1,000 nationwide. The federal New Market Tax Credits program provides tax credit incentives to investors for equity investments in certified Community Development Entities (CDE), which invest in low-income and distressed communities. No CDEs operate in Southeast Florida today. SRFPC operates a small business revolving loan fund.
